<summary type="text/plain">Victorian cottage, country-like, artistic, quiet alley off Fillmore Street near Pine Street in Pacific Heights

$285 night (3 night minimum)

$245 night (1 week or more)

$205 night (4 weeks or more)

Call: 415-309-3035 or e-mail: sservices@pacbell.net

This gem is for someone who wants a cute, quiet, country-like getaway pad in the heart of San Francisco’s best neighborhood.

This totally charming original SF Victorian Cottage was built in the 1870's. It has a very rustic country cottage, artistic feeling. The interior walls are the original antique plaster and have been kept in their original state which after 140 years retain a naturally formed antique patina with numerous individual cracks and some artistically exposed lath. The walls resemble the looks of an old rustic European cottage. In the past, the house has been requested to be used as a photo location by a country antique magazine and a well-known furniture/home accessory chain. It is a settled home and has withstood every major earthquake recorded in S.F since the 1870’s..

Wilmot Street is an uncharacteristically quiet alley right off of Fillmore Street. It is particularly peaceful because this is a freestanding single family home with nobody living directly above or below you and with no shared side walls. Neighbors are friendly and tend to keep an eye out for each other. This neighborhood is considered one of the top areas of the city to live. The neighborhood features some of the best dining, cafes, shopping, theaters &amp; music in S.F. (The Grove, The Elite Café, SPQR, Florio, Peet’s Coffee, Bittersweet Chocolate Café, Shu Uemura, Benefit, Mac, Aveda, Keils, DePietro Todd, Betsy Johnson, Margaret O’Leary, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, The Fillmore Theater, Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival Complex, John Lee Hooker’s Boom Boom Room, Rassela’s Jazz club and Yoshi’s Jazz club). In addition, the neighborhood is home to San Francisco’s most authentic French pastry shops “Delanghe”.

The home has two bedrooms with a dressing room off the Master bedroom. The master bedroom has a king bed and the second small room has a queen bed. The home is about 1000sq ft. and the yard is an additional 250sq. ft

The cottage is fully furnished and equipped for housekeeping. Supplies include dishes, utensils, pots, pans, pillows, blankets, sheets and towels and that prime vacation necessity a barbecue.

There is direct access to a protected &amp; private brick patio area with a four person outdoor table and an outdoor sitting couch. The back area is nicely ornate with potted cymbidiums and two sprawling kiwi vines.

A charming characteristic of the home is it’s detailed antique cast-iron gas stove which is perfect for people who love everything about the character of a wood stove but don’t like to bother with wood. The stove gives the warmth and comfort you need with the ease and clean-burning convenience of gas.

Included with the cottage comes a secure enclosed parking space in an offsite garage at the corner of Sutter and Steiner. Additionally, there are three “Zip” cars that are parked two houses down on Wilmot Street. There are also City Share cars available across from the nearby Mollie Stones grocery store which is two blocks away. PLEASE NOTE that 70 Wilmot Street and the Fillmore District is very centrally located within the city. Because of all the convenient forms of transportation such as BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport), “Zip” cars, City Share cars, buses, taxies, limousines and airport shuttles we recommend that visitors take advantage of one of the many alternative forms of transportation for which San Francisco is so well known. Enjoy the freedom of not having to deal with the hassles of accidents, tickets, parking and road rage. Not only will you save money but best of all you’ll join San Franciscan’s in their movement to being considered on the cutting edge of being one of the “cleanest air” cities in the world. If you are the “hunker-down” type here to write your novel or to nest in this cozy cottage, you’ll find that within the Fillmore Street community, all your needs and more are in walking distance.

There is a stack washer/dryer in the cottage. In addition, on the corner of Wilmot and Fillmore Street is a great dry cleaner that also does laundry in bulk. They do a great job folding and pressing. There is also a self-serve Laundromat about 1 block away.

Details Summary: Two bedrooms with a maximum occupancy of 4 (no overnight guests), Cable television with DVD player, antique style gas heating stove, washer &amp; dryer, gas cooking stove, standard size refrigerator with great water pressure throughout.

$285 night (3 night minimum)

$245 night (1 week or more)

$205 night (4 weeks or more)

A 20% security deposit is required and there is a mandatory $100 cleaning fee so that you do not have to spend the last day of your stay cleaning.

Backyard smoking only and no pets for consideration of future guests with allergies.

<title>{ISSUES &gt; BIAS AND BALANCE} - Atlanta Journal-Constitution propagated false claim that Reid received contributions from Abramoff</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/society/issues/business/media/bias-and-balance/atlanta-journal-constitution-propagated-false-20080831515.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">An August 14 Atlanta
Journal-Constitution article about an
upcoming fundraiser for Sen. John McCain hosted in part by former Christian
Coalition executive director Ralph Reed reported as fact the
false allegation that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) received
political contributions from convicted
Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Referring
to Republican National Committee spokeswoman Katie Wright, the Journal-Constitution
reported: "Democrats have Abramoff's dirt on their shoes as well, she
said, noting that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) accepted nearly
$70,000 in contributions from Abramoff and his associates." In fact, as Media Matters for America has noted, while Reid received
contributions from Abramoff's firm's PAC (to which
Abramoff did not contribute) and from some of Abramoff's partners and clients,
a Center for Responsive Politics
breakdown of Abramoff's donations confirms that Abramoff himself made
contributions only to Republicans, not Democrats. In a December 21, 2005, article, Bloomberg
News reported: "Between 2001 and 2004, Abramoff gave more than $127,000
to Republican candidates and committees and nothing to Democrats, federal
records show."

As Media Matters
documented, an
August 12 Atlanta Journal-Constitution
article uncritically quoted Wright's
false assertion that Reid "took nearly $68,000 from Abramoff."

From the August 14 Atlanta
Journal-Constitution article:

The Georgia Democratic Party was
even more blunt. "John McCain says he takes the high road, and then he
comes to Atlanta and chows down on shrimp cocktail with an unindicted
co-conspirator," party spokesman Martin Matheny said.

The Republican National Committee
struck back. Katie Wright, a spokeswoman, called the attacks
"baffling" considering McCain led efforts to uncover Abramoff's
corruption. McCain, she said, "has a solid record of integrity."

<title>{ISSUES &gt; BIAS AND BALANCE} - Atlanta Journal-Constitution uncritically reported RNC spokesperson's false assertion that Reid "took nearly $68,000 from Abramoff"</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/society/issues/business/media/bias-and-balance/atlanta-journal-constitution-uncritically-reported-20080820711.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">An August 12 Atlanta Journal-Constitution article about an
upcoming fundraiser for Sen. John McCain hosted in part by former Christian
Coalition executive director Ralph Reed uncritically quoted
Republican National Committee spokeswoman Katie Wright's false assertion
that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), a national campaign co-chairman
for Sen. Barack Obama, "took nearly $68,000 from [former Washington
lobbyist Jack] Abramoff." In fact, as Media
Matters for America previously noted, while Reid received contributions from
Abramoff's firm's PAC (to which Abramoff did not
contribute) and from some of
Abramoff's partners and clients, a Center for Responsive Politics breakdown
of Abramoff's donations shows that Abramoff himself made contributions
only to Republicans, not Democrats.

From the August 12 Atlanta Journal-Constitution
article:

"Senator McCain
knows exactly how Ralph Reed helped Jack Abramoff defraud Indian tribes out of
tens of millions of dollars," said David Donnelly, director of Campaign
Money Watch. "Senator McCain should spare himself any further embarrassment
by canceling this event immediately. Whose help will he accept next? Tom
DeLay's?"

Republican National
Committee spokeswoman Katie Wright said she found Campaign Money Watch's
statement "laughable."

"I suggest they take
a closer look at Barack Obama's friends like convicted felon Tony Rezko or his
national co-chairman Harry Reid, who took nearly $68,000 from Abramoff,"
Wright said.

<td width="100%" style="font:9pt Verdana,Arial,Sans-serif;vertical-align:top;"><span style="color:#808080;font-variant:small-caps;">Mediamatters.Org</span> - An August 12 Atlanta Journal-Constitution article about an
upcoming fundraiser for Sen.
