Location: Angell House is located on a quiet cul-de-sac on a redwood-covered hillside just outside of downtown Guerneville, only a few miles from shopping, dining, nightlife and Johnson's Beach with its shallow swimming lagoon and boat rentals. Two miles to the west, there's Northwood Golf Club and beyond that Monte Rio's charming movie theater. This home has its own fenced playground and a few minutes away, there's also a well-maintained public playground and tennis courts. Across the street, there are 40 private acres of hiking trails through the mixed redwood forest.

      House: Angell House is a completely remodeled two-story cottage with an heirloom quality, treated with the best of traditional River decor, including wood panelling and hardwood floors, and filled with antiques. Sleeping six on two floors, the entry level of this home features two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and reading area with bookshelf. One bedroom has a double bed and small TV/VCR combo. The other has a single daybed and desk with printer/fax. Upstairs, the living room is a gracious family space with plenty of comfortable seating, gas fireplace, game table (with lots of games and puzzles), 42" flatscreen HDTV with On Demand, DVD/CD Player and home theater sound system, and a single sleeper. There is also an antique organ with foot bellows. Opening off the living room, the master bedroom has a gorgeous, carved wood headboard and luxury linens on king bed, wonderful forest view and its own bathroom with oversized shower. The kitchen is a chef's dream with granite counters, high-quality, stainless appliances and gas stove. Directly past the kitchen, the formal dining room has forest views on three sides and an elegant, antique dining set for six. Opening from the dining room, there's a concrete patio with outdoor dining set and gas grill; stairs lead from the patio to the yard below. This home has wireless high-speed Internet access.

      Grounds: The grounds of this home are made for a family vacation! Angell House has a large, flat yard, paved with wood chips, adjacent to a hillside covered with redwoods and ferns, accessed both from the front of the house and steps from the upper patio, and secured with 6' fences. This yard in a forest glade is furnished with bistro tables, umbrellas and loungers. Just beyond an antique gate, the hot tub is big enough for six people and occupies its own private area of the yard with outdoor shower, surrounded by bamboo. Beyond the hot tub, the new playground set (wood fort, slide, swings, climbing wall &amp; ropes, and sandbox) is fenced and safe from the road for the 10 and under set (The building in the background is locked and not part of the play area.). Just across the street there is access (with signed permission from owner) to the 40 private acres of mixed redwood forest. The trails are wide and easy enough for kids to come along.

<title>{NORTH AMERICA &gt; LODGING} - LITTLE BLUE COTTAGE -- THE JAZZ FESTIVAL IS COMING! (russian river) $150 2bd</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/regional/north-america/united-states/california/metro-areas/san-francisco-bay-area/travel-and-tourism/lodging/little-blue-cottage-the-jazz-festival-is-coming-20080819310.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">Back by popular demand, the Little Blue Cottage is available for rent just in time for the most magical months here in the beautiful redwoods by the River: September and October, not the least of which reason is because that’s harvest time and the wineries are in full swing! And to celebrate, during those two months we're offering a special 10% discount off of our usual low nightly rental rate. Not only that, but Labor Day weekend and the popular Russian River Jazz Festival are fast approaching for those music buffs who want to take full advantage of the rich bounty of the fall harvest in Wine Country.

This bright and airy, newly renovated 40's country cottage sleeps 4-6; has two bedrooms plus a loft with two double futons, and a bath with jetted tub. There is also an elliptical trainer workout machine for our guests' use. The cottage has high vaulted ceilings in the living room with the loft area above and lots of skylights that let in the sun with the tops of redwoods visible above, in stark contrast to most of the typical dark vacation homes on the River. This cozy little retreat is located in the Guernewood Park area of the quaint town of Guerneville, within walking distance of downtown (about a mile) and the Russian River (an isolated beach is right at the end of our road!), and is situated on Hulbert Creek. A wonderful rock fountain has also been added on the deck this summer. The town of Guerneville is a 90-minute drive from San Francisco, perfect for a wine country getaway and only a 20-minute drive to the coast, where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. For hiking enthusiasts, the beautiful trails of Armstrong Woods State Reserve beckon, or if you simply want to relax you can rent a kayak and gently make your way down the river or soak up the sun at Johnson's Beach. And did I mention wine-tasting at one (or all) of the nearby wineries?
