I am looking to share my home, the upper unit of a duplex near Oakland's Grand Avenue, with housemates. The common areas are furnished and contain wall art.
I work as a communications professional for a large corporation. Sounds fancy, I know, but it simply means that I am a writer. I am also a private tutor (at the students homes), not my home.
I am a gentle communicator with loads of patience. I have studied NVC. At the end of day, I love to take it easy by preparing and sharing a meal, or zoning out in front of the TV, or playing Wii at friends' homes (I don't have one yet, but it's on the list!), or reading. I like to entertain occasionally by hosting small dinner parties. I can be both very solitary and very social, depending on how many projects I am juggling, so I understand and embrace both personality types in others.
Housemates, Not Roommates
Mature-natured housemates who value peace, fun, are mutually supportive, conscientious, considerate of others, look after the whole space, and are creative would be a welcome addition here. Housemates who like to keep things clean and orderly because they value contributing to the harmony of the community are most welcome.
I am interested in home sharing, not room renting. This said, if you are the type to stay in your room all the time, thatÂs fine, too, because living in your room is not inherently counter to house sharing. There is room for the introverted and the extroverted here. There is also room for the student, the older person, the recent transplant, the Bay Area native, LGBTQ people, as well as couples, singles, or commuters. In other words, you get to be you, while we share space.
What matters most are shared values about how to share a living space, therefore, there is no room here for the selfish, the mean, the filthy, the chronically loud, the incommunicative, or the inconsiderate. This is a smoke- and shoe-free space.
The backyard is huge. The front yard is landscaped, and the neighborhood walkability score is 89 out of 100.
Remodeling Discount
The kitchen is currently receiving a makeover. Your rent is discounted by $150 for each month (1, maybe 2) that the kitchen is being renovated. How cool is that? The deposit may also be paid in two parts.
Your rent includes garbage, gardening services, land line, broadband internet, and basic cable. Utilities are shared by the household.
