Hello! Below you will find a lot of information about my home, the room I’m offering for rent, my interests, and what I’m basically looking for in a flat mate (don’t you love that term?!) Basically I want someone with similar interests and temperament that knows how to share space with another person in a comfortable, easygoing fashion. I have had a number of successful roommates in the past. I see the room I have to offer as a way station for people on their way somewhere “next” and the longest I’ve had a roommate stay is 10 months (then he married his fiance’; it’s a great story!), but I’d love to have someone stick around longer if they so desired. Check out the information below and if it sounds like it would work for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

The Room:

* Large (about 11' X 11')

* Huge Closet (takes up one whole wall)

* Black iron scroll style daybed (twin)

* Large dresser

* High Speed Internet via Wireless Router available throughout the condo.

* Bathroom directly across the hallway and will not be shared with anyone else. However it is the front bathroom, so my guests (few and far between and mostly my family members) may have to use it briefly on occasion. Lots of cupboard space!

* Bedding and towels also available.

The condo:

* A very laid back atmosphere, lots of books and bit of comfy clutter, candles &amp; incense, etc.

* Large kitchen (for a condo!) and fully stocked. No need to bring your own plates, bowls, silverware, etc. There is limited space for additional items. However, the refrigerator is shared and there is available cupboard space for dry goods and anything else you can fit in.

* Central A/C and Heat (used minimally to reduce expense)

* Big, comfy living room.

* 32" TV with DVD Player &amp; VHS Player

* The Third bedroom is currently my office and storage area, however, with the right person I would be open to cleaning/organizing it so we could both use the space as an office. Use of this room would increase the rent a little, something we would have to discuss.

* Swimming pool in complex

* Laundry room is right next door to my unit. Three washers, three dryers. 4 quarters to wash, 3 to dry.

Me:

* 32, female, straight &amp; in a new, but promising, relationship

* Grad student at JFK University in Pleasant Hill studying Integral Psychology (integrates mind, body, soul/spirit; East, West, North, &amp; South; visit holons-news.calm for an overview. Yes, I mistyped that on purpose). I’m graduating June 2009.

* I work multiple part time jobs and am out of the house quite a bit, but tend to be home in the mornings and off and on throughout the day.

* A bit of a night owl, but my schedule doesn't always allow that.

* Politically liberal and an Obama supporter.

* I love music, in particular female singer-songwriters, and I sing karaoke several times a month.

* I am a big fan of: Kevin Smith, Joss Whedon, Natalie Merchant, healthy living, books, my parents and sister, my boyfriend, and life in general!

* I am an adherent to the eating principles of the Weston A. Price Foundation (www.westonaprice.org). Though I strive not to be dogmatic about it and often eat off plan. I brew my own kombucha weekly. I also compost and grow some veggies on my balcony.

* On a spiritual path and always seeking peace, joy, beauty, and knowledge.

You:

* Preferably female

* Mature, peaceful, joyful, and financially responsible.

* Easy going, spiritual, thinker type would be ideal.

* Freely laughs at self and the wonderful absurdity of life.

Room available September 1st.

With 6-Month Lease the monthly rate is $600 and First &amp; Last Months' Rent moves you in (first month pro-rated if you move in mid-month).

No pets. No smoking. No drugs.

<summary type="text/plain">Three active professionals and one sweet cat seeking two roommates. We are looking for interesting, dynamic people to round out our diverse home. Our ideal housemate is friendly, outgoing and enjoys living with others. We each have active lives outside of the house but also enjoy occasional house dinners or a movie night together.

More about us:

Lorraine is an architect/builder by profession and a sailor at heart. She enjoys adventure on the high seas, travel, cycling, reading and makes an amazing smoothie. On weekends she spends time racing yachts on San Francisco Bay and looking after a herd of wild goats in the Santa Cruz mountains.

Honey is a clothing designer by trade and always has his finger on the pulse of cutting edge laid back hip fashion. He enjoys participating in local cultural offerings such as classical Chinese or flamenco dance classes and frequently partakes in a vibrant social life. When you are looking to toast that special occasion, he is your go to guy for the best tequila bar in the city.

Christina is a renewable energy consultant, an environmental advocate, and a lover of all nature. She is a high energy person who enjoys yoga, hiking, reading, nature, a glass of wine with her girlfriends and an occasional day at the spa.

Our home: Located in the Mission District close to shops, easy access to buses, BART and freeways. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. The house features a spacious warm kitchen and a dining room suitable for the house dinners we like to host. The upstairs features a large loft which we use as a living room, library and workspace. We have a large full bath with claw-foot tub and separate shower downstairs and a half bath upstairs. We have a washer and dryer as well. Beautiful hardwood floors throughout. Nicely landscaped garden backyard. No additional pets, please.

Two first floor bedrooms with nice architectural detailing - available October 1st. Rent is $1,100 per month including utilities and wireless internet.</summary>

<summary type="text/plain">
My current roommate is moving to Colorado…so I am looking for a new roommate to share my 2-bedroom apartment in Nob Hill (at the corner of Bush and Leavenworth). The apartment is close to Union Square, Polk Street restaurants and bars, and is in walking distance to the Financial District.

The apartment is 2 bed/1bath on the top floor of a 5 floor building. There are hardwood floors throughout, except for tile in kitchen and bathroom. The available bedroom is large (11x11) and includes a walk in closet. The living room is big and has three large windows. My roommate will be taking her furniture and TV with her, so any help in that department would be wonderful.

I am a 23 year old female. I am currently in fashion school and usually busy so I am not around the apartment much during the week. I love to have fun and try new restaurants and bars. I spend my spare time with friends and family. I enjoy shopping, exercising, flipping through fashion magazines for inspiration, and going out on the weekends.

As for you, you’re a female in your mid-twenties. You have a job or are in school. You have a steady income and pay your bills on time. You’re active and like to have fun, but you don’t bring the party home with you.

Rent is $1225 plus utilities. Upon move in you will pay rent plus $1325 deposit. My current roommate is moving out Sept. 12th so the apartment will be available then.

If you’re interested, please email me and include a little bit of information about yourself. Beyond the basics, responses to any of the following would be great.

*What magazines do you love to read?

*What did you do this summer?

*What puts you in a great mood?

*In your current living situation, what drives you nuts? How have you dealt with it?

*You feel healthy when you __________________________

*If you could live with anyone in the world, who would you live with, and why?

I look forward to hearing from you. If it seems like a good fit, I’ll be in touch to invite you to an open house.

*No smokers, dogs or cats*</summary>

<summary type="text/plain">We have a bedroom open in our 4 BR, 2 ½ Bathroom flat in Hayes Valley. The flat is a renovated condo and has stainless steel appliances, light-wood floors, is in good condition and has a funky multi-floor lay-out. The room for rent is on the ground floor….2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and washer &amp; dryer are on the 2nd floor…..the kitchen, living room, and ½ bathroom are on the 3rd floor…..the master bedroom &amp; bathroom are on the 4th floor….and a spacious roof deck w/ killer views is on the top floor. Each of these floors is separated by about 8 steps, so they’re really ½-floors. The room for rent is quiet and feels separated from the rest of the house, which I’ve found to be ideal. It’s 10.5’ x 11.5’ and has a sliding glass door leading out to a deck that’s about 10’x 15’.

Utilities (fancy cable package, hi-speed internet, PG&E, trash/recycling, water, and phone w/ unlimited free domestic calls) are less than $100/month/person. First month’s rent, last month’s rent, and 1 month's security deposit to move in (i.e. $2,850).

The other roommates are:

Roomie #1: sweet Brazilian guy in his 20’s; into fashion and film

Roomie #2: lawyer in his 30’s; into Colbert Report &amp; Daly Show

Roomie #3: public relations professional in his 40’s; into politics

All three guys are very nice and respectful. They tend to do their own things, but are always happy to chat over breakfast or watch tv together.

We're looking for a nice, mature, responsible person (sorry, we're only looking for one person - no couples or duos). We’re open to how long someone stays….we’d like a 3 month commitment at a minimum, and are flexible beyond that. No pets - sorry!

<title>{ISSUES &gt; BIAS AND BALANCE} - Hannity's memory lapse: "I don't remember Chelsea Clinton being attacked"</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/society/issues/business/media/bias-and-balance/hannity-s-memory-lapse-i-don-t-remember-chelsea-clinton-2008092135.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">On the September 1 edition of Fox News'
Hannity &amp; Colmes, co-host Sean Hannity said, in reference to Internet rumors about Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin's daughter, "[T]hey tried to make the attack that she
has a young daughter, pregnant and engaged. Is that fair that they would attack
that? I mean, I don't remember Chelsea Clinton being attacked. I don't remember
Al Gore's children being attacked. I thought there was a general rule that
children of candidates ought to be left alone." In fact, Chelsea Clinton
was not "left alone" -- not by Sen. John McCain, and not by Rush Limbaugh, who has hosted numerous prominent
Republicans on his syndicated radio show.

McCain reportedly told a
"joke" about Chelsea Clinton in 1998, saying: "Why is Chelsea
Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." The late columnist Molly Ivins reported of Limbaugh:

On his TV
show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks,
the White House cat, and asked, 'Did you know there's a White House
dog?' Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old
at the time and as far as I know had never done any harm to anyone.

When viewers objected, he
claimed, in typical Limbaugh fashion, that the gag was an accident and that
without his permission some technician had put up the picture of Chelsea -- which I found
as disgusting as his original attempt at humor.

As Republican
strategist Mary Matalin noted on Hannity &amp; Colmes, Sen. Barack Obama denounced public discussion
of Palin's family, saying it had no relevance to her qualifications as
governor or vice president. He said: "Let me be a clear as possible: I have said before and I
will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits and people's
children are especially off limits."

From the September 1 edition of Fox News' Hannity &amp; Colmes:

HANNITY: Let's talk a little bit
about the vice presidential choice, Sarah Palin, and your thoughts on her. I
can tell you every person that I have met here -- there is an energy. Conservatives,
they love her. And there have been numerous attacks by different liberal
organizations --
National Organization for Women and some others against her. How do you think
they're going to stand up?

MATALIN: Well, you know that there
were -- the Democrats
are worried by this
choice, because they don't know how to attack her. They've tried every which way. They've tried the kitchen
sink, but all it's done
is revealed their elitism, their sexism, their hypocrisy. They're not going to
make it stick. And it's not just about conservatives, although that's a big
chunk of it and her position on life,
and the obvious talking
the talk, not just
walking the walk. It's regular mainstream women who've prioritized their families, but wanting to have good jobs, don't want to be overtaxed,
get the energy issue.

HANNITY: We're running out of time,
but they tried to make the attack that she has a young daughter, pregnant and
engaged. Is that fair that they would attack that? I mean, I don't remember
Chelsea Clinton being attacked. I don't remember Al Gore's children being
attacked. I thought there
was a general rule that children of candidates ought to be left alone. And Alan
knows I've said that
many times.

MATALIN: Right, and in fairness,
Barack Obama did --

HANNITY: He did say that, yeah.

MATALIN: -- pretty fast out of the box, said,
"off-limits,
off-limits." So,
credit to him. Credit to every -- let
the games begin.

HANNITY: Let the games begin.

<title>{NORTH AMERICA &gt; RENTALS} - Super-nice roomate sought to share Large Garden Cottage (cole valley / ashbury hts) $1000</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/regional/north-america/united-states/california/metro-areas/san-francisco-bay-area/business-and-economy/real-estate/rentals/super-nice-roomate-sought-to-share-large-garden-20080829626.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">Hi there,

My roomate Aiden &amp; I are seeking a third roomate to share our 3-bedroom garden cottage in Cole Valley. By SF standards, our place is pretty big. We have a living room, dining room, full kitchen, laundry room and backyard garden that looks out onto an amazing Eucalyptus forest. Street parking is plentiful, and if you park 4 blocks away, the street cleaning is MONTHLY, so you don't actually have to move your car that often if you don't want to (even if you don't have a neighborhood parking permit).

We're located right in the middle of UCSF, Haight St., Cole Valley (of course), and Golden Gate Park, and are close to public transportation as well.

We're about 4 blocks away from the N-Judah, the 37 Corbett, 43 Masonic, 71-Haight, and the 33 Stanyan.

We just moved here a few months ago, installed a washer, dryer, full set of kitchen appliances (dishwasher), installed a granite countertop in the kitchen, and repainted the entire place.

The apartment is fully furnished (with the exception of your bedroom), and our garden has outdoor seating/lounging areas, and is maintained by a gardener that our landlord pays for, so it is gorgeous but requires no maintenance on our part.
About us:

We are one straight female (31) (MICHELLE) and one gay male (29) (AIDEN) looking for a SUPER NICE third roomate to be part of our little household. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of our "family" who is considerate, intuitive, and will participate in doing their share of household chores, cleaning, and do their fair share to contribute to apartment necessities. In short, we want someone who wants to make our house their HOME; not just someone who will be a friend as well as a roomate; someone who we would have fun hanging out with on the weekends, going out to drinks with, and who can contribute to a warm home environment. We would love to find a third best-buddy, but a good-friend is fine for starters. What we don't want is someone who stays in their room all day with the door closed and just comes, goes, and pays rent.

Aiden is an interior designer (and designed our apartment). He is also a gourmet oatmeal-cookie maker, an amazing Thai chef, and a great fashion consultant who has never let me down when I ask him for my opinion before going to interviews or other fancy occassions.

I am a marathon-runner, martial artist, bicyclist, writer and photographer.

I practice law too, but prefer to define myself by my interests and not by my career.

Both of us love having our friends over, so we are looking for someone who

enjoys company and social gatherings and would enjoy an environment where our friends become your friends and we are all one-big-family.

One final thing - Aiden is SUPER NEAT, but I am SUPER MESSY (but I keep my mess in my own room, and keep the common areas nice for everyone else). That being said, I'm looking for someone in-between the two of us to balance us out. Someone cleaner than me, but messier than Aiden would be perfect.

If you're interested, shoot an email to both of us with a little description about who you are, what your preferences are, what you are looking for and the kind of environment you would like to live in.

You can respond to the reply-to-craigslist email, but please also cc: aidensf@gmail.com, and koalapuff@hotmail.com.

We look forward to meeting our fun third-roomate soon.</summary>

<title>{RESOURCES &gt; NEWS AND MEDIA} - Scott Brown Rails Against Machineless Time Travel</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/business/resources/news-and-media/scott-brown-rails-against-machineless-time-travel-20080859023.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">

I fear for the future of time travel. Not the real thing: That seems to be coming along swimmingly, according to a handful of renegade physicists (more on that in The Future! of this column). No, I'm more worried about that venerable pop institution fictional time travel. It's getting airier, subtler, distressingly less Rube Goldbergian: No fewer than four extant network shows &mdash; Heroes, the soon-to-return Lost, and two newcomers, Life on Mars and Fringe &mdash; involve some form of time travel minus any obvious chronos-crunching machine. The new time travelers epoch-hop on pure longing, head injury, or strength of will alone &mdash; sizzling portals and sparking gizmos are now rendered beside the point. Sure, some might see this as the genre maturing, but to me it looks an awful lot like downsizing. Hello? McFly? Whither the DeLoreans of yesteryear? Outta time, it seems.

Which says something about The Present. Time-travel stories are wonderfully dated, pristine core samples of the ages that birthed them. In A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889), an early instance, Mark Twain was essentially refighting the Civil War in satire. His mode of transport? A bump on the head. Twain was in the machine age but not of it. But just a few years later in 1895, H. G. Wells embraced the industrial: The Time Machine was an au courant postcolonial parable, but more to the point, it described time travel via device in detail &mdash; and became a timeless source of inspiration for future generations of geeks. One of these is Ronald Mallett, a University of Connecticut physics professor who is, in all seriousness, working on a time machine. As you might expect, his tastes fall along the gizmo end of the spectrum: "I'm into the realm of technology and control. My leaning is definitely toward science fiction based on some sort of instrumentality." Mallet's design involves a circulating ring laser that could hypothetically twist spacetime the way a spoon swirls coffee.

Time machines stayed in fashion through the atomic age, undergoing both design and thematic updates that often cast them as vehicles for cautionary tales of science gone awry: See Ray Bradbury's seminal short story A Sound of Thunder (the "butterfly effect" urtext) and the BBC's Doctor Who. The sober political retrenchments of the '70s gave rise to Time and Again and Somewhere in Time, in which time travel is a form of reflective meditation, accomplished via hypnosis. In the '80s, heavy metal resurged with Back to the Future and The Terminator, two films that differed radically in theory and tone (BTTF's zippy Freudian destiny-defiance versus T1's grim, apocalyptic determinism) but shared the muscular, plutonium-fueled ethos of the Reagan era. Quantum Leap may have been light on tech, but it was almost neoconservative in its morality: Sam Beckett traveled the timeline, righting wrongs &mdash; the continuum's beat cop. And Bill and Ted's phone booth? A thing of naive, idiotic, self-congratulatory excellence, much like triumphal glasnost America itself. For these time travel shows, history was like other world problems &mdash; ornery but correctable. By 1991, Terminator 2's happy ending seemed to be telling us that the timeline was finally fixed. And then, for the rest of the '90s, the time machines were scrapped. We didn't need them anymore.

That's been the case even as, in the last couple of years, time travel has returned to the cultural forebrain &mdash; sans the machines. Lost's Desmond has seizures of chronology fueled not by plutonium but by romantic longing and the drive for redemption; for Heroes' Hiro, era swapping is a personal test of will; and the time traveler in Life on Mars may either be trapped in the '70s or a coma victim dying of guilty nostalgia. (Talk about a parable for our times!) Methodology-wise, though, we're practically back to King Arthur's Court. This is time travel in the cloud era: The DeLorean would never even pass emissions, and classical Wellsian futurism has given way to pure wish fulfillment.

But in the next yet-to-be-writ age of time-travel fantasy, I say we re-commit to the machine. Be it Mallett's circulating ring laser (Spike Lee has already bought the film rights to the prof's life story &mdash; really) or a mylar-sided Prius (Mr. Spielberg, that one's on the house), let's mechanize something, not just squint hard and wish. Let's get ambitious again. Let's shoot sparks. Let's burn rubber. Heck, maybe just once, for old time's sake, let's go back and father ourselves.
