<summary type="text/plain">Room for rent in house with 3 respectful and stupendous young men. Tomas is a recent Cal grad who plays guitar and piano, yes there is a tuned piano too! Sebastian will be moving in soon and he’s a Cal exchange student from Germany. Philup plays the bass and is a local Cal student who we don’t see much of with his busy school schedule.

The house has lots of sunlight, a large kitchen, living room, fenced yard, deck, outdoor bunnies and privacy in a great neighborhood. Being 2 blocks from the North Berkeley Bart Station, it is the perfect location for biking, walking, and even parking your vehicle. You would be sharing the bathroom with 2 others.

The room is a good size (approx. 10 x 10 ft.), with 2 windows, a ceiling fan, and a closet. It is a very quite and tranquil space. Move in date is negotiable, but will be possibly as early as September 1st.

Rent is $640/mo, plus approx. $35/mo for utilities (includes internet and electricity). Water and trash are paid by landlord. Deposit is $1,000.00.

We will be setting appointments in the evenings after 8:00 pm, Sunday thru Thursday. If interested, please contact Christina by email above or at 805-459-5397. Leave a message if I do not answer with the best time to reach you.

<title>{ISSUES &gt; BIAS AND BALANCE} - Wash. Times uncritically repeated McCain campaign's statement that Obama "voted in lockstep with President George W. Bush nearly half the time"</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/society/issues/business/media/bias-and-balance/wash-times-uncritically-repeated-mccain-campaign-20080835118.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">In an August 14 Washington Times article, reporter
Christina Bellantoni uncritically repeated an assertion by Sen. John McCain
campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds that "[i]n the Senate, Barack Obama has
voted in lockstep with President George W. Bush nearly half the time, including
the Bush-Cheney Energy bill which gave close to $3 billion in new giveaways to
Big Oil." But Bellantoni did not report that according to the nonpartisan publication Congressional Quarterly, which tracks
legislators' votes, McCain voted
with the Bush administration 95 percent of the time in 2007 and has voted with Bush
90 percent of the time over the seven-and-a-half years of Bush's presidency.

Further, while Bellantoni uncritically
quoted Bounds' claim that Obama voted for an energy bill that "gave
close to $3 billion in new giveaways to Big Oil" and uncritically
repeated a McCain campaign statement that asserted Obama "voted for the
Bush energy bill in 2005, which gave tax breaks to Big Oil," a February
27, 2007, Congressional Research
Service report found that
although the bill "included several oil and gas tax incentives, providing
about $2.6 billion of tax cuts for the oil and gas industry," it also
"provided for $2.9 billion of tax increases on the oil and gas industry,
for a net tax increase on the industry of nearly $300 million over 11
years":

The
Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT05, P.L. 109-58) included several oil and gas
tax incentives, providing about $2.6 billion of tax cuts for the oil and gas
industry. In addition, EPACT05 provided for $2.9 billion of tax increases on
the oil and gas industry, for a net tax increase on the industry of nearly $300
million over 11 years. Energy tax increases comprise the oil spill liability
tax and the Leaking Underground Storage Tank financing rate, both of which are
imposed on oil refineries. If these taxes are subtracted from the tax
subsidies, the oil and gas refinery and distribution sector received a net tax
increase of $1,356 million ($2,857 million minus $1,501
million).

From Bellantoni's August 14 Washington Times
article:

But
Team McCain pointed out in a statement that Mr. Obama voted for the Bush energy
bill in 2005, which gave tax breaks to Big Oil.

"In
the Senate, Barack Obama has voted in lockstep with President George W. Bush
nearly half the time, including the Bush-Cheney Energy bill which gave close to
$3 billion in new giveaways to Big Oil - a terrible policy that John McCain
opposed," said McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds. "The truth is Barack
Obama's plan is a job-killing machine that ignores the struggling economy and
raises taxes on family savings, Social Security and small businesses."

<title>{NORTH AMERICA &gt; RENTALS} - master BR w/ private full bathroom (san leandro) $650</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://articles.world-of-newave.info/regional/north-america/united-states/california/metro-areas/san-francisco-bay-area/business-and-economy/real-estate/rentals/master-br-w-private-full-bathroom-san-leandro-650-20080846710.htm"/>
<summary type="text/plain">We are looking for a roommate to share our 2BR, 2-bathroom apartment in San Leandro. You would get the master bedroom, with private full bathroom and large linen closet. Bedroom also has very large closet. Fully stocked kitchen, though we are happy to make room for your stuff too. Living room is furnished, but you are welcome to use/share it. Shared back porch. There is parking on the premises, and plenty on the street. Very conveniently located: 1 mile to BART (with bus that goes directly there less than 5 minutes walk). Right off 580 (less than 5 minutes), not far from 880. Coin-op laundry in building, dishwasher, gas stove, no microwave (but we do have a convection/toaster oven).

We are 2 women (a couple) in our early to mid 30's. We are relatively quiet: one is a Celtic/folk musician and one watches tv, but we tend to keep volume levels lower than one would expect. We are a low drama couple, and are seeking low drama roommates. We are familiar with and enjoy community living, but would also be fine with someone who keeps to themself or is not home much. One omnivore and one vegetarian (but the omnivore does all the cooking, and has grown to enjoy the challenge of making meals diverse households can enjoy). Roommates might also need to know: we're Pagan, polyamorous, SciFi fans, gamer geeks; one Gaelic speaking, SCA lesbian harper/singer/songwriter, and one purple obsessed bisexual nightowl bookworm (named Cat). We also have 2 cats: a fluffy, grumpy, 15-year-old Calico, and a very pretty, friendly, gray seal-point short-hair.

The apartment complex does not allow dogs, and we already have 2 cats. We may consider other small pets, but we'd have to think about it. We don't smoke, drink, or do any drugs (our substances of choice include music, chocolate, and Buffy videos), and we don't allow any smoking or any drugs in the apartment. I can tolerate someone having a drink once in a while, but I can also easily get very uncomfortable (and somewhat unpleasant) around drinking if it impairs your thinking or reactions at all, ever.

We are looking for someone who would be respectful to us, low to no drama, who can communicate well and can handle stress in non-violent ways (including no verbal violence), who is responsible and pays their bills on time. If you are really a neat freak, you may find it difficult to live here: we are not slobs and things are clean, but do get a bit cluttered sometimes, and right now we just moved so it's pretty cluttered at the moment (we are working on clearing it, though).

We are pretty hard to shock, and are welcoming of all kinds of lifestyles: queer, non-conventionally gendered, polyamorous, almost all religions (as long as you are respectful of us), alternative/holistic healing, alternative politics (we are pretty progressive for the east coast, haven't really figured out the bay area yet), artsy, intellectual, academic, athletic, goth, and many other forms of "weird". We can't allow any kink-play in the apartment, however. Also, no incense in the apartment, though sage and naturally scented candles are fine (we have chemical sensitivities, but can tolerate essential oils).

$650/month plus 1/3 of utilities (PG&E and any part of phone/cable/internet you choose to share). We are also asking a $650 security deposit, payable in installments if necessary.

Feel free to forward this message to people who you think might be interested. You can call us at 510-363-8579 and ask for Caera (KEERa) or Christina, or reply to the email above.</summary>
