We are looking to sublet our lovely San Francisco home for approximately 1 month at the end of this summer – between August 24th and September 23rd, though these dates might change slightly. We live in Noe Valley, a sunny, safe and beautiful neighborhood, and our home is located a block and a half from the area’s main artery – overflowing with coffee and clothing shops, restaurants, banks and public parks. We are also mere steps from all major forms of transportation, the local post office and a laundromat. The house itself is a free standing, two-story bright (!) green cottage in a quiet courtyard off the street, with many windows large and small that let in plenty of sunlight from all directions throughout the day. There is one large, sunny master bedroom upstairs and another “sunken” study room on the same floor with an expansive view onto neighbors' blooming backyards. There is also a cozy kitchen and bathroom with a clawfoot tub on the upper floor. Downstairs is a spacious, carpeted living room looking out onto our own lush garden area. There is also one small guest room on this bottom floor, but we will use it for storage while we’re away, so it is not included in the space for rent. We are looking for a single person or a couple who are tidy, responsible, quiet, and kind, and who will respect our space and its surroundings, including following recycling and composting guidelines. {Intimate knowledge and love of all things green would be an enormous asset, but of course someone who can simply commit to watering the plants once a week is more than enough. Our neighbor can maintain the outside garden if you are not that green a thumb.} We will leave the house fully furnished and ready to settle in to and enjoy. Our neighbors are also friends, but we all respect one another's privacy and right to the peaceful enjoyment of the space. The main entrance leading from the street is shared with another couple that lives across the courtyard in a separate flat. A black and white kitty cat that belongs to our other neighbors has been our surrogate son for the 4 years we’ve lived here, so he’s apt to visit you in the cottage and ask for some loving and light petting. He is unapologetically hostile, however, to other cats and dogs, so no pets can be brought in to this sublet. Sorry! The rent is $2500 for the month, which will include gas and electric, garbage pickup, internet (occasionally wireless) and use of the telephone for local calls. We also have a sunny little backyard blooming with life (though admittedly in need of some lovin'). The landlords are wonderful and quick to respond to repair requests. A few years ago they put in brand new double paned and screened windows throughout the whole house. Our neighbors are very friendly and the neighborhood is quiet and safe (for the city). Street parking is easy, right out front and the space in the garage can be shared. With all the space we have in this house, its a great deal! I don't know anyone else in SF who has this much space for this $. One major bonus of the house is a beautiful, sunny yoga room, that I use for my own personal practice as well as for teaching privates and doing massage. Who ever lives here must be comfortable with me seeing clients at home about 3 afternoons and sometimes 1-2 evenings a week. Whomever lives here is welcome to use the space for their own yoga and meditation practice. I would be paying slightly more than you, since I am using this space for work. The available bedroom is on the 2nd floor, next to the full bath. It's big (by SF standards), with west-facing windows that give tons of afternoon sunlight, a walk-in closet, its own phone line, & built-in drawers. All within walking distance are great restaurants (Moki's, The Liberty Cafe, Little Nepal...), bars (love the patio at the Wild Side West), coffeehouses (Moonlight Cafe, Martha's, Progressive Grounds), plus Bernal Yoga, a gift shop, Maggie Mudd's locally made ice cream, book store, pet store, videos/ DVD's and a fabulous new butcher shop with sustainable/ organic/ local meat and fish. The Mission is only a 15 min. walk down the hill. We're 2 minutes from 280 and 101, and parking is easy right out front. We're also on the 67 (takes you to the 24th St. BART) and 24 Divisadero (straight shot to Noe Valley, Castro, the lower Haight...) bus lines. To get downtown, its easy to take a quick bus ride to the 24th street Bart. You must LOVE dogs, because I have one, Leo, a 6 y.o. Portuguese Water Dog. He's sweet and mellow around the house, and will always be happy to accompany you on walks up the hill or to the beach. He doesn't shed, so he's fairly clean and "hypo-allergenic". I'm looking for a housemate who is independent, health conscious, mature, respectful, and responsible. Another yogi or person with some kind of "practice" would be ideal, but not necessary. I had previously lived only with women, but am now open to living with a man, as long as he is respectful, sweet and can hang with all the female energy surrounding me and my work. No cigarettes, no heavy drinking or drugs, no shedding furry pets, no regular working from home, no loud TV's, no drama. I eat a little meat and fish but can be conscious of vegetarian or vegan kitchen issues. I have a very healthy diet and love making fermented foods, especially kombucha! Rent for the room is $950 plus 1/2 of utilities (water, pge, dsl). Move-in cost is first and last month's rent. I'm hoping to find a long-term housemate, who can make a commitment of at least 1 year.
